Coincidences are just coincidences

Yesterday my niece was telling me all about Samsung's Soul and how it was going to be her next phone.  To be honest she knew more about it than I.  The only thing I did know was that it had that colourful touch screen cursor pad thingy...

So, today I posted a quickie Jaiku about my niece wishing to upgrade to the Soul and how funny that was considering that she's only 11!  What struck me about that, and what I didn't go into in my Jaiku post was how matter-of-fact she sounded.  She really could've been a fellow attendee at Unlimited Drinks, Mobile Geeks of London or An Evening with S60 (well maybe not S60...)

Where's the coincidence, I hear you ask?  Well, I just got an email from Samsung!  I've never had an email from Samsung before.  I don't ever remember emailing them either.  The email was all about their mobile phones (not their other numerous products) and was advertising a MobileMonday event (amongst other things), this one at the Samsung Experience at The Time Warner Center, NYC...

The penny dropped!  I was at their 'Experience' store, at Columbus Circle in March.  I must've given up my email to them, perhaps for a competition or something.  FWIW the store is quite nice, it's away from the hustle and bustle of the city - even though it's not, if that makes any sense?  It's much nicer than the flagship Apple store just a few blocks away.  Fewer crazies is the main selling point but there's also sofas, HD gaming, free internet and for the mobile enthusiast... loads of phones.

I'm kinda thinking it'd be cool to see what my niece would actually make of the Soul if she could use one for a week.  Samsung, you fancy hearing the opinions of an 11 year old who uses a Symbian phone and knows her way around an iPhone, N95 and a Skypephone?
