More Nokia Internet Radio...
I've just uploaded a bucketload of screenshots of the app in question at work. Just go over to my collections if you want to check them out. I'll pick a few, tag 'em and put them in a post at a later stage. There's already a lot of this out there already but no video of it in action. I'll see if I can dig out my camcorder later as a video of this in action taken on a cameraphone isn't exactly ideal!
I'd imagine that most people that are really interested will already have downloaded this and given it a spin themselves. In the future Nokia plan to have this pre-installed in their phones - which really is the only way to reach the masses. I'd like to get the word out about innovative stuff like this but the nature of blogging and what I write about means it's unlikely that anyone who doesn't already have an interest in this stuff will stumble across it.
Just read an interesting piece on Tech Digest with Nokia's Saket Gupta, check it out here. It includes an explanation as to the choice of included stations and what may be in store.
...and just some random thoughts for good measure:
- Nokia Internet Radio is a very descriptive title for the app but it doesn't roll off the tongue
- Nokia really need to combine at least some of their audio apps. We've now got Visual Radio, Music Player, Podcasting, Audio Books and now Internet Radio!
- Maybe Nokia should consider making a java version for, er, non-Nokia phones (there's a whole bunch of reasons why this would be good from their perspective but obviously a whole lot of bad as well!)
