Proof that Wal-Mart are using child labour in the UK?
Well, not quite. But ASDA did have some Leeds school kids playing with toys one afternoon rather than er, you know, studying. I'm not sure what benefit this was for the kids (or the school) although I'm sure they enjoyed themselves. I'd at least hope that either the kids got to keep some of the toys or the school got some cash for some much needed repairs/books/equipment.
And there's more - this time ASDA haven't put words into the kids' mouths, just been really selective of what quotes they've used...
Am I the only one that finds the above, for want of a better word... distasteful? And would any semi-intelligent grown-up go on such recommendations? It really insults the intelligence of their customers in my opinion. If you've ever witnessed a child watching toy adverts on TV, or can hark back to when you, yourself watched them, you'll realise kids will say all of the above until they really get the item and have a good play. Presumably the kids only got a few minutes to play with each item, just long enough to not get bored silly.
