Why call for free when you can pay?!
A funny thing happened yesterday. My nephew was having lots of fun messing around with ringtone downloads (Nokia MOSH) and general other web stuff on "his" Skypephone. Then, all of a sudden, the phone suddenly lost everything that was on the memory card (or so it seemed). He rings me up and we try to figure out what the problem is. I'm guessing the memory card got corrupted and try talking him through the phone's menus. At this point he informs me that he can't see the menus as he is holding the phone up to his ear. I then realise that he is using a Skypephone to call me on a landline using the credit provided with the phone. He didn't even think to press the Skype button and call me on "my" Skypephone without using any credit.
For what it's worth, the memory card was fine and didn't lose a thing. The phone occasionally informs the user that content on the card has changed and asks the user if its okay to update its index. If you double click on the 'Skype' key (it doubles as enter/ok) accidently then you end up with a phone that can't see those files.

Looks like you're enjoying this £50 phone very much. Frankly i'd still prefer a separate app for my wifi enabled N95, even tho i know the 3G network offers better sound quality and calls beyond a wifi hotspot. Such is why i use Truphone.
That said tho, i give top marks to Skype and 3 for this. I may get a few of these as Christmas gifts for the family members.
btw.. i did eat all the fortune cookies. ^__^
I'm so in love with this phone it's unreal. I'm someone that likes a good deal as much as good technology and so to have this all wrapped up in one small package... well it's ideal!
I'd really like Nokia to look into these handsets and see what they can do. They could really do with having such a feature packed handset available at this price point and make it as easy to use and as reliable. They could also do a lot more with their build quality. My N73 looks and feels cheap and nasty compared to this £50 phone. That's crazy and it's not just my opinion, I even had my sister's kids say more or less the same thing.
They want these for Xmas (amongst other things) but as I know they read this blog I wouldn't give any hints to whether they'll be getting one. In the meantime they have the next best thing, they have to share one between them!
Those fortune cookies weren't bad, shame they didn't contain the winning ticket!
As far as build quality goes, the N73 is very old tech in mobile years (akin to dog years vs human years) and of course even lesser phones now will most likely trump it. Just advancements in manufacturing tech.
If your sister's kids as so tech savvy, they dont need you to slip up here, theyd just hack your brain somehow.
I think that winning ticket is in some landfill now....If there ever was one.
