It's been a long time coming but I've just picked a proper domain name. One could say I'm now the master of my own domain! Sorry about that, I'm a huge fan of Seinfeld... Anyhoo, I've plumped up $10 and finally settled on a name. Yes I took on board all the advice I received. And yes, I still went for just one domain name and no variations. There's also a dash in it which could prove a problem, but the non-dash version was taken (and I reckon it's not essential).
Why did I go with 'Fresh Plastic' when I've grown tired of it? Didn't I spend hours, days, weeks, months... trying to think up a more catchy, more relevant, more fun name? Okay, this is what it boils down to...
On each of the big search engines above you can see (click to make bigger!) what results I got earlier when I typed fresh and plastic. Add to that, I've been using it here for a while (however long I've had this VOX blog) as well as a bunch of other sites, such as Qik and YouTube (check me out with my one video!)
No variations or a personal domain for the time being. My full name is taken anyway and I'm sure the .me can wait (if not it's no biggie).
Now all I need to do is figure out how I want to get my content on to my site. Do I want to use Google Page Creator or continue with a blog-style layout using the likes of WordPress or Blogger (also from Google)? Maybe there's something else out there that I haven't heard of that all the new kids are using! Who knows? All I know is there's a steep learning curve ahead of me and I'm useless at learning anything new and practical!
By the way, my brand spanking new domain name is:
http://www.fresh-plastic.com
not:
http://www.freshplastic.com
As you can see, I added a bit of dash!
I've been meaning to write up a summary/mini-review about Nokia's excellent new app but I guess I've been too busy using it! Anyway, before I do it's worth checking out the latest from Nokia themselves (I'm presuming Carol works for them). Here you go: S60 Multimedia Blog: Nokia Internet Radio (beta)
If so you've got more patience than I'd have! Don't get me wrong, I like Widsets (it used to be my fav app on my N73) but it really isn't the best way to read blogs. You probably won't be able to read all this post and there's no way to click for more. The AccuWeather widget is amazing though and the various teletext services work surprisingly well (despite being re-purposed for mobile).
