Early this morning I enjoyed an episode of The Simpsons whilst waiting for my train home and, on the train itself, an episode of The Colbert Report. This was on the Hulu site via the Skyfire browser on my N95 8GB. Oh, and in the UK. How awesome is that? In my mind, very!
I knew NBC and Fox were on Hulu, had no idea about Comedy Central until then. I'm in TV heaven!
Just tried MTV Music's site as well and that didn't work, but fortunately Truveo.com's mirror (for want of a better word) does.
Cheers goes to Nokiaaddict's gerrymoth for alerting me to Skyfire being available for all and that Hulu worked on it.
Just received a reply in response to my email to John Kreuzer, the guy in charge of the mBlox account at Silicon Valley PR firm McGrath/Power. It's short and sweet. Well short, anyway. On the face of it, it looks like they're beginning to listen (I know already they like to read... well my blog posts anyway!)
Hi Anthony,
Thanks for forwarding this to us. We sent your email directly to mBlox and hope that you receive a quick resolution to your situation.
Thanks again!
John
Does kinda seem like it's a bog standard, "we haven't really read your email and probably haven't passed it on verbatim" kinda response. But, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, 'cos that's the guy I am. Anyway, I enjoy reading his blog and he seems a nice enough guy. Shame he's stuck representing mBlox, surely McGrath/Power have far more worthy clients that could benefit from his skills?
It would seem we have quite a lot in common John, I notice you read SMStextnews*, Engadget and enjoy The Daily Show and Colbert too. Damn fine, damn fine. Let the truthiness commence...*you should fly over to the next Unlimited Drinks, perhaps get the client to pick up the tab...
Possibly a sign that I watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report too much...? I'll post, you decide!
If this weren't a family friendly blog, I'd ask if you agree that McCain tapped the right woman. And I myself might offer a 'yeah, I'd tap that!'. Oh and, I know this post has nothing to do with gadgets, mobiles, technology or any such thing but there you go...
Comedy Central's finest (sorry Mr Stewart!) is coming to the UK at long last! The Colbert Report will be airing at 11pm Tuesday through Friday - which folks, means the day after transmission - on FX. Hopefully it won't be as badly edited as The Daily Show over on More 4.
Not tech related but big news to me (even if I don't have pay TV and I'd need more than one show, no matter how good, to change that!)
For those that don't know, Father Ted is probably the world's funniest sitcom about priests. You don't have to be raised Catholic to find it funny, but it helps.
Tucked away on 3 UK's 'Planet 3' portal are clips of the show in bite-sized chunks, ad-supported but free! Video quality isn't great though (compare with the images of SlingPlayer on the exact same mobile) but is what is expected of current mobile videoclips in 3gp format. 3 UK may soon choose to go down the same route as 3 Austria with their H.264* encoded HD MobileTV service.
*The images shown of The Colbert Report are of H.264 encoded video and give you some idea of what can be achieved even on relatively old phones such as my N73
I saw this on Wikipedia so it could be complete and utter nonsense, but nonetheless...
Before the launch of Vox, beta releases of the service were named after The Daily Show correspondents; release 15 was named Stewart, while releases 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, and 9 were named Colbert, Corddry, Bee, Carell, Littleford, and Rocca, respectively.
Talking about The Daily Show here's what er, The Colbert Report looks like on an Nokia N73. By the way Comedy Central, props for having the whole Daily Show with Jon Stewart archive online (and free!) now - but how about a mobile site? Also, do you realise how many Americans, Canadians and Brits in Europe want to watch Colbert but can't? You can never have enough truthiness. Talking of which - there's now a Colbert search engine: COLBoogle!
