I've gone over this before, but here it is again...
My blog has become neglected, Twitter's now in favour. I think it's because I have a short attention spam, like to blurt things out as I think them and well, Twitter is a two-way medium - blogs (esepcially VOX ones) are not. I'm all about communicating - I like to talk to people, people!
I've tried to rectify this with a brand spanking new blog over at Posterous - but even that's fallen out of favour. I guess, as much as I like blogging for myself, it's nice to see who's visited and why - StatCounter gives me that on VOX, I've got nothing on Posterous.
Why choose one over the other though, right? They're quite different beasts, so I'm thinking they can run in tandem. What content gets to go on one and not the other though? Hmm...
Oh, and almost forgot, I still have a Wordpress blog! Only one post on it though, mind. The best thing about it is the brand spanking new, er, branding...
Haven't blogged in over a week. I think that's a record! Really need to get back into it, trouble is I'm always reading/viewing something fantastic that I don't find the time. So, instead I tweet (which is far quicker and responses quicker still). Or, as I've been doing lately, posting some of the coolest, most bizarre, and sometimes (shock, horror) newsy news over on Current.
If you like some of my quirkiest posts here on my VOX blog, I recommend you check out my submissions for Current TV's site here. And, if you like any, feel free to vote the story up or leave a message.
You can also catch my thoughts, bizarre ideas and links at Twitter > @FreshPlastic Recent highlights have included Vodka Tea, being suspended and my crazy "cat" neighbour!
It's been a long time coming but I've just picked a proper domain name. One could say I'm now the master of my own domain! Sorry about that, I'm a huge fan of Seinfeld... Anyhoo, I've plumped up $10 and finally settled on a name. Yes I took on board all the advice I received. And yes, I still went for just one domain name and no variations. There's also a dash in it which could prove a problem, but the non-dash version was taken (and I reckon it's not essential).
Why did I go with 'Fresh Plastic' when I've grown tired of it? Didn't I spend hours, days, weeks, months... trying to think up a more catchy, more relevant, more fun name? Okay, this is what it boils down to...
On each of the big search engines above you can see (click to make bigger!) what results I got earlier when I typed fresh and plastic. Add to that, I've been using it here for a while (however long I've had this VOX blog) as well as a bunch of other sites, such as Qik and YouTube (check me out with my one video!)
No variations or a personal domain for the time being. My full name is taken anyway and I'm sure the .me can wait (if not it's no biggie).
Now all I need to do is figure out how I want to get my content on to my site. Do I want to use Google Page Creator or continue with a blog-style layout using the likes of WordPress or Blogger (also from Google)? Maybe there's something else out there that I haven't heard of that all the new kids are using! Who knows? All I know is there's a steep learning curve ahead of me and I'm useless at learning anything new and practical!
By the way, my brand spanking new domain name is:
http://www.fresh-plastic.com
not:
http://www.freshplastic.com
As you can see, I added a bit of dash!
