Spotify, the music streaming service from Sweden, has signed a deal with 3 Mobile to bring said service to the UK operator's handsets.
The first handset to feature Spotify will be HTC's Android-rocking Hero - which is due to be launched in time for Christmas. Other handsets on 3 will follow next year.
The announcement comes as no great surprise as 3's parent company, Hutchison Whampoa, bought a stake in Spotify earlier this year - with 3's sister company, INQ Mobile, now having their CEO, Frank Meehan, on Spotify's board.
Disclaimer: Frank has helped me out in the past - so bear that in mind when I write about INQ or Spotify (not that I'm easily swayed or anything!)
I got papped at the last MGoL so I papped back this time. So there Donna (from WOM World)!
The host with the most... Mr Whatley(dude)...
And um, ones I took on my ill fated walk to Waterloo in time for last train (maybe had I got a taxi, maybe had I not stopped to take pictures, maybe had I realised that there is no service after 1.05am from Waterloo - damn you National Rail Enquiries website and your promise of a 2.38am train!)...
I'm quite fond of trees but stop at hugging them. I'm quite fond of gadgets but stop at reading the bloody manual! INQ Mobile's solution (as it would seem I'm not alone) is to get rid of the manual altogether. Who needs something the size of the Yellow Pages that is in 25 different languages? Not me!
Sure I want to know how to use the item properly, and yeah, it's good to find out how something works without Googling or praying for Yahoo! Answers. But really? Do they ever need all those pages? No, and companies realise this - hence the 'quick start' guides that, in addition to a tome, most things come with now.
Here's INQ Mobile's Frank Meehan explaining the ideas behind the INQ1 (it'll be a 3 exclusive to begin with... before anyone asks!)
Just knocked this out in a pub. Excuse the quality!
