Well fear not, Homersapien came to the rescue! As did Toy Town, Happy Land and one of Happy Land's finest - Officer Asbo.
Happy Land was a fairly quiet place until Homersapien strolled into town disturbing the peace with his uber-mobile sound system. Not a moody teenager, hoodie or mp3 playing phone in sight. Officer Asbo wouldn't stand for that in his town. However, even he could not imagine what havoc a giant Homer Simpson in robot form could wreak with a mobile phone and an additional ingredient... external speakers!
Actually this is neither a summary or a review at this point, it's late and I'm too tired for that! Probably down to all the playing in the garden with my niece and nephew's toys...
If this were a summary or review, I'd say that these speakers are significantly louder than the speakers built-in to any phone I've ever used. I might then go on to say that it's not just that they're louder - they have a far richer sound than those speakers too. I'd probably also say that the batteries last for ages and that the unit is very, very portable... so much so that you won't be needing a shoulder to carry them on.
Lets just hope hoodies don't get hold of these - journeys on public transport can be bad enough! (I should point out that I used these on the train back from Bournemouth a couple of weeks back... I should know better. In my defence, we were right at the end of the carriage, it was mostly empty and it was late at night)

I've been playing around with the Nokia MD-6 for a few days now (it's a loaner from WOM World, thanks guys!). It's surprisingly compact and er, very pocketable...
Bring this little lot with you...
Although, in the UK, you do risk being locked up for 42 days in the process (especially if you read material that the Government doesn't want you to, have a Transformers T-shirt and/or look Brazilian).
The cylindrical items (one's silver, the other black) hold a single AA battery (each) and charge up the phone connected as if there were a power outlet/plug socket nearby. The squarer tube is (are?) a pair of portable speakers from Nokia (MD-6).
