I'm having no end of trouble with the built-in GPS on the Nokia N95 8GB.  I've come to the conclusion that without the 'Assisted'-part in A-GPS it may as well not be a feature on the handset.  Back in the UK I was happy with its performance - it worked just as well as my Bluetooth (BT) unit.

So, is it because of the urban canyon that is Manhattan?  Well, I was going to make allowances for that but then my BT unit seems to do a good enough job even next to my butt (it's in my backpocket a lot of the time and let me tell you, it should've been squashed to pieces by now!)  Today I wondered down to Lower Manhattan and went through areas with large green spaces, lower buildings etc - and yet the Nokia still couldn't get a fix.

IIRC the Nokias don't have the most sensitive GPS chipsets to begin with and placing the antenna below the bottom keys can't help much.
