I've snagged my niece and nephews' Wii Fit for a week and what you see above is what it told me on the second day. That's bad enough, but on the first day it said I had the body of someone TWENTY years older! At least now I'm only "overweight", previously when I tried it at their house it said I was "obese" ('You're even fatter than dad', they remarked!)

I've been using this in conjunction with Nokia Sports Tracker and Wellness Diary (I'll probably through Step Counter into the mix too). What I won't do in the name of research!

Whilst in New York I forgot to use a whole bunch of stuff I'd uploaded to the N95 8GB in the days before. One of the things I really meant to try out was Nokia's Activity Monitor. I figured it'd be a good way to keep check on how much, well, activity I was partaking in.

In the end I completely forgot I had it and never used it! A bit of a shame as I like keeping tabs on any exercise I do and Nokia's Sports Tracker (what I normally use to keep tabs) wasn't really working that well with the GPS.

Anyway, I went for a <del>run</del>, er, walk yesterday and decided to give it a go. I'm not sure how accurate it was as the phone was in my pocket one minute and in my hand the next. I presume the application uses accelerometers to tell how many steps have been taken so possibly got a bit confused along the way.

I did have Sports Tracker running at the same time so I have some idea as to the distance I covered (although saying that, using the built-in GPS causes a few inaccurate readings ...more on that in another post!)
<div at:enclosure="asset" at:xid="6a00e398ae981e000100f48ce7f3bf0002" at:format="large" at:align="left"

Wish I could bottle that energy

Sports Tracker concluded that I'd <del>run</del> walked 4.09 miles at an average speed of 4 mph and a maximum of 15.6 mph! Yeah, um, er, no. I can safely say I was not approaching speeds of anywhere near 15 mph! As laughable as that was the day before I believe it tracked me doing a maximum of 35 mph. If only I could walk that fast. Who would need a car?

Activity Monitor says I did 4.46 km which is 2.77 miles. Sports Tracker says just over 4 miles. Conclusion? Neither is entirely accurate but they're better than nothing. By that I mean I need all the help I can get to remain motivated to exercise. Having stats, and having stats that you can add to or beat gives me encouragement. Which reminds me, I better start using Nokia's Wellness Diary again...

Nokia - my health is in your hands.
